Our Responsible Sourcing Commitment

We’re committed to caring for people and the planet. That’s why we source materials and services responsibly, based on our four pillars: protecting the environment, ethical labour practices, the health and safety of people and business integrity. We implement programmes and continuously review and evaluate our policies and suppliers, making sure our ingredients are always responsibly sourced in the best possible ways.

OUR RESPONSIBLE PRODUCTION

The way we make our products is as important as what we put into them. That’s why we’re working towards our zero waste target by reducing the amount of energy and water we use to create the products you love. So far, we’ve achieved GBCI TRUE Zero Waste certification at 20 plants on 5 continents, and we’re constantly working towards the same goal for our other plants. We work closely with a number of partners who help us on the journey to reach our responsible production ambitions. To learn more about what we’re doing and who we’re working with, click here.

PACKAGING

Our commitment to nature extends beyond the ingredients and fragrances we carefully select. We’re also committed to finding better, more sustainable ways to use, reuse and recycle our plastic packaging. We’re working hard to create a circular economy for our plastics. That means not creating single use plastic. Once our packaging is created, we want to reuse, recycle and repurpose it for as long as possible. To do this, we try to use transparent plastic bottles as often as we can, because these can be reused in more ways than coloured bottles.

Our recycled, transparent plastic bottles are slightly greyish because of the recycling process, and we don’t use colourants to cover that. If we did, it would compromise the quality of the plastic and they wouldn’t have as many uses once they go into the recycling system again. We haven’t achieved the perfect circular economy for our plastic packaging just yet, but with each passing month and year we get better at it and do more for us, for you and for the earth.

How you can help

Reducing waste at every stage of a product’s lifecycle is important to sustainability. But we can’t do it alone. With your help, by recycling our products and packaging, we can achieve our goals. Read your Palmolive product label and check your local recycling rules to learn more about how to recycle our Palmolive packaging.
